The Volume of Pi

Wow, that was fun!

i just used a combination of Specialist and Uni maths to find a general solution for the volume of a pie, taking into account the depth, size and slope of the sides.

I came out with an answer (after about half an hour), but felt that surely something must have gone wrong in the workings (there were alot of pronumerals flying around). So, i pulled out one of Mum's pie dishes, measured its dimensions and plugged the numbers into my formula. The solution was 1.36 litres, so i poured about that much into a jug, and slowly tipped into my pie dish. I was getting worried for a moment there, but the water came right up to the top and formed the bubble sort of skin thing just on the upper edge!! Perfect!!!

I was so excited that i proceeded to pour the water back into the jug, and ended up with it all over the oven, bench, sink, floor and even into one of the drawers... But hey, even that couldnt dampen my spirits, i have a formula for the volume of a pie!!

And i believe there was a quote somewhere in there of "i must be a genius" in disbelief. Leonie laughed...

Now, i need sleep. Photos and Videos tomorrow!
